# What are Simanim?
[Recustom Team](https://learn.recustom.com/author/recustom-team) Sep 26, 2024 3:46:07 PM
Simanim are symbolic foods that are traditionally added to your Rosh Hashanah table spread. Eating them will help ensure you have a good and sweet new year.
Use this list to add to your table this year, and then download one of our alternative Simanim rituals, like the [Mental Health Simanim](https://www.recustom.com/clips/3907868) by Blue Dove Foundation or this [Simanim Seder](https://www.recustom.com/clips/3894018).
1. Apples and honey
2. Green beans
3. Black eyed peas
4. Leeks
5. Lettuce
6. Dates
7. Pomegranates
8. Squash
9. Beets
